Carissa Smith, daughter of Mark and Jeanette Smith, is a senior communications major from Bloomfield, NJ. As a CIAA track athlete, Smith is a top finisher in the 55m and 100m hurdles. She is a member of the following organizations: Student Alumni Association, Student Athletic Advisory Committee, Student Government Association, Latino Student Association and National Council of Negro Women. Smith is the president of the Society of Sophisticated Ladies.

Smith is an intern for the US Senate’s Public Affairs Department. She has interned for Social Lifestyle Magazine, CBS Radio DC Public Affairs and WPGC FM. Smith has worked as a producer on the CW network affiliate for the show "Being Fabulous Rocks" and her self-owned media production company "Bliss of Riss Media" LLC. In 2014, Smith was crowned Miss Puerto Rico U.S. International. 

Smith has vowed to impact her campus through the initiatives of self-love, confidence and respect. She believes that daily recognition, encouragement and uplifting one another is the most efficient method to showcase royalty to the women in the community. She aspires to pursue her master’s degree in public affairs. Smith hopes to be a public affairs specialist in Washington D.C. and a professor at Bowie State University.
