Miss Chowan University - Ashley Bradford

Ashley Bradford is a Chowan University senior majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing.  A native of Chesapeake, VA, Ashley is the daughter of Lisa and Jason Bradford.

Ashley’s passion lies on the soccer field, but she keeps a watchful eye on her grades. As a proud member of the Chowan Women’s soccer team, Ashley has received several honors while playing for the Hawks; including being named All-American first-team in the NCCAA.  She also holds the record of scoring the most goals in four-years at Chowan and the record for the most points scored in one soccer game. But with her accomplishments Ashley faced adversity on the field during her freshman year when she fell and tore her ACL and spent the next six months in physical rehabilitation. This did not deter her academic success or her athletic success.

“Striving to be successful and giving my very best in all I do” is the motto that Ashley stands by. She was named to the President’s List, the Dean’s List, and also served as the Treasurer for Alpha Lambda Delta, the freshman honor society.  Ashley was the Student of the Month in the School of Business in May 2008, earned the honor of being selected for Who’s Who In American Colleges and Universities.

She has received several academic scholarships including; the Lettie Pate Whitehead Scholarship, and the Temperance Vaughan Scholarship. Being chosen to travel to Greece and Turkey in May 2009 and follow the footsteps of the Apostle Paul was one of the bonuses of receiving the Harris Scholarship for Study Abroad. While on this journey of a lifetime, Ashley was voted as the Most Dedicated Student on the trip.

She has also dedicated countless hours to the community by participating in Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society, the Riverview Elementary School Community Service Reading Project, Girls and Women in Sports Day, Summer Soccer Camp on Chowan’s campus, and was the 1st place winner in the North Carolina Watermelon Festival 5K Run. As a future entrepreneur, Ashley plans to start an online athletic recruiting agency to help high school athletes get into college.

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31.
