My name is Suehier Ali. I am a senior majoring in Social Work at Elizabeth City State University.
Born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, I am proud of my Eritrean, African culture. I am the daughter of Ali and Benat Mahruf and the oldest of four children. My parents are a true exemplification of hard work, which gives me the drive to excel in everything that I do.
I am proud to represent my University as Miss Elizabeth City State University 2015-2016. I am a member of multiple organizations that serve to enhance student life through social and academic endeavors (Pi Psi Honor Society, Social Work Club, and Narcissistic Naturals). Additionally, throughout my enrollment at ECSU, I have been involved with the following activities and organizations: NAACP, where I served as Miss NAACP 2012-2013, English Tutor in the Quality Enhancement Program lab, Miss Sophomore (2013-2014), and Vikings Assisting New Students (V.A.N.S). Also, I have been on the Dean’s and Chancellor’s list for academics since 2012.
Upon graduation, I plan to attend graduate school to pursue a master’s degree in Social Work. My motto, “If God is for you, who can be against you”.
