Noluthando “Thando” Dlomo is from Johannesburg, South Africa, President and Dean’s scholar, dual major in Communication Arts and Visual and Performing Arts/concentration in Theatre. As a graduate of the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa, Thando took on corporate South Africa by working for Cummins (engineering company) as a Pioneering Student Intern. In 2012, Thando came to the United States to attend JCSU. She has become a daughter to her wonderful host family, Kevin and Tina Henry and big sister to Tyler and Taylor.
Thando loves representing JCSU as the University Queen, recently placing second in the 2015 Competition of HBCU Queens in Atlanta Georgia. She has participated in several amazing internships while remaining active on campus.
After graduating from Johnson C. Smith University, Thando has aspirations of sitting at the tables where the decisions of the world will be made. She also plans on giving back to her South African community by teaching the youth about the power of Protest Theater in a crumbling society. Thando believes in the strength of courage and thus her mantra:
“You will never do anything in this world without courage. It is the greatest quality of the mind next to honor.”
