Welcome to the 2018 CIAA Education Day!

 


CIAA Education Day, one of the conference’s most popular events during the CIAA Basketball Tournament, reaches more than 5,000 middle and high school students with dedicated programs for each age group. Attendees will be able to meet with college recruiters from Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Virginia face-to-face to learn tips to prepare for college as well as get the inside track on the collegiate experience.

The High School Program (HSP) will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Charlotte Convention Center on Wednesday, February 28, 2018.  As a change from previous years, this year's program will be will be primarily catered to juniors and seniors only.  Sophomores may attend at the discretion of the school/organization.  The Middle School Program (MSP) will be held on a new day and at a new location -Tuesday, February 27th at Ovens Auditorium from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  This event is catered to all middle school students.

The events will kick off with an opening session that includes a sponsor welcome and remarks, panel discussions regarding preparing for college and beyond, student and teacher recognitions, and an inspirational speaker. For the high school program, there will also be a special presentation honoring students with 4.0 grade point averages.  All attendees will have the opportunity to visit the various CIAA institutions’ booths and event vendors. 

The program is free to middle and high school students from the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, as well as surrounding North Carolina counties and other states.
