Welcome to Charlotte and the 2013 CIAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments.
As a former student-athlete, alumna and fan, today I celebrate 100 years of history and excellence with you. The path that led me
here is a reminder of what the future holds for all of us that hold our conference dear -- that dreams do come true. The CIAA is
not just a part of my past -- it is my present and future. I serve as your commissioner with humility and gratitude, and will ensure
that as a conference we will celebrate our rich history and embrace our current successes, while forging ahead into an innovative
As we move forward into CIAA: Century II, we will seek and lead efforts to support student-athlete academic and athletic success.
We will serve our membership with the highest regard to meeting the needs of our member institutions, so that current and
future partners will relish being a part of the greatest conference in the country. We will engage our communities and fans to
support twelve amazing member institutions and sixteen sponsored sports with enthusiasm. This week’s showcase of basketball
excellence is the ideal opportunity to represent what the CIAA is to Charlotte, to the region and to the nation.
It is a great pleasure to work with an amazing and committed Board of Directors, in building a forward-looking strategic plan that
accentuates the CIAA's history, describes our mission and priorities and envisions plans for building the future. The future holds
nothing but opportunities to grow our championships, to expand our partnerships and to engage new fans like you to the CIAA.
The CIAA will continue to be an experience for life and I could not be more energized by the opportunity to share in the
experience with you as we move into CIAA: Century II.
Thank you and let’s have a great week as we crown our champions!
